Okay, this is just one of the strangest collaborations ever. <\/p>\n

Shinji TANIMURA<\/strong>, a veteran singer, songwriter, and musician who headed the popular 1970’s band “Alice”, and whose career spans folk to enka music, is working with Kalafina<\/strong>, the female pop\/new-age vocal trio that was hand-picked by animation soundtrack guru\/composer Yuki KAJIURA. They are releasing the single Alcira no Hoshi<\/em> on March 16. The title song is the BS Television Channel<\/a>‘s 15th anniversary “dream song.” The single will be released in two editions: a limited edition that includes a DVD with music video content by Kalafina, and a regular edition. The single will have four tracks total. <\/p>\n

From the Youtube sound clip<\/a> previewed by Universal Music, it sounds like the singers of Kalafina adopted more classically folk singing styles for the song, while Tanimura sounded like…well, himself. Tanimura has performed with Kalafina before, covering an Alice song “Fuyu no Inazuma” on stage together<\/a> (Youtube clip). <\/p>\n
