Review<\/h2>\n

Kazeyomi<\/em> is Maaya SAKAMOTO\u2019s 6th original album, and the second without Yoko Kanno as the producer and main composer. It is the first post-Yoko Kanno album in which Maaya\u2019s sound is really getting expressed through other composers. Her previous efforts Yuunagi LOOP<\/em> and 30minutes night flight<\/em> sounded more like directors putting together interesting sound clips, but had not quite settled on the right sound. In this album, the experimentation is finally coming together for Maaya. Her lyric writing has also gotten stronger. She wrote almost all of the lyrics for this album, and the thoughtfulness of her words adds a new depth and personality to her songs. The four singles, \u201cTriangler,\u201d \u201cKazemachi Jet,\u201d \u201cAme ga Furu,\u201d and \u201cSaigo no Kajitsu\u201d are decently catchy tunes that all featured tie-ups to anime shows. However, the truly stand out tracks to me are \u201cVento,\u201d \u201cSONIC BOOM,\u201d and \u201cColors.\u201d They are dreamy songs, fitting perfectly with Maaya\u2019s naturally gentle voice.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s something good to be said about the variety on this album. \u201cTrianglar\u201d is rousing and upbeat, while \u201cAme ga Furu\u201d and \u201cSaigo no Kajitsu\u201d are dramatic. Quiet songs like \u201cAo no ETHER\u201d and \u201cGuitar-hiki ni naritai na\u201d are beautiful, while \u201cShitsuren Cafe,\u201d is relaxed. \u201cPeanuts\u201d is a fantastically unique, playful song. While I still think some of her previous albums made better use of her great voice, Maaya\u2019s new release promises that her career is still on the rise.<\/p>\n
