English translation

The fading night chases the clouds     with a wavering heart
From a deep sleep,     Time awakened me
The brightening sky beckoned to me

Empty memories     dissolve away with tears
So I want to gaze at the new morning [1]

Like a mirror,     though it gathers light,
The courage in my heart spills out
Escaping the burned-out forest
I want to embrace the sunrise

A wind of sadness     dries the scars
The eyes that gently reflect the past     come back to me now [2]

Locking the wandering memories into a sigh,
I want to fly into the stars

Even though briliance gathers into these plain eyes,
The warmth dissipated from my heart
Leaving behind the faded dream,
(I look) toward the distant brilliant rainbow [3]

In this blinding world, if we spread our wings
Let’s vault over everything
Like a mirror, though it gathers light,
Though the courage in my heart spills over,
I let go of the faded dream
(Going) toward the distant brilliant rainbow [3]

[1] asu wo mitsumetai. Specifically, the reading of 明日 as “asu” implies the next morning, rather than the more general “tomorrow” (with the more common reading of “ashita”).

[2] kanashimi no kaze wa     kizuato kawakashi
kako wo yasashiku utsusu     hitomi ga ima yomigaeru
.
More literally, the “winds of grief” (referring specifically to the kind of grief experienced with the loss of a loved one) that “dry up scars” also bring back–to the singer’s mind–the pupils of the eyes (of a lost loved one) which gently reflected the past in them.

[3] azayaka na     niji no kanata e. There is no verb to the phrase “toward the distant brilliant rainbow”, which implies the speaker is shifting their attention away from the “faded dream” and turning, looking, or moving toward the “distant brilliant rainbow” instead.
